Pierre Van Hoeylandt
Pierre has worked at CDC in a number of roles over the past six years. He is currently a Director in the Funds & Capital Partnerships team which, in addition to investing in Private Equity Funds in Africa and South Asia, is exploring new ways in which CDC can mobilise capital into our markets in partnership with other institutions, including through innovative intermediated structures. Prior to his current role, Pierre was Head of Frontier Investments leading on CDC investments in some of the more challenging economies in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
He is also a non-executive Director of the EDFI Management Company, a fund manager owned by the Association of European Development Finance Institutions and managing €270m of assets on behalf of the European Commission. Current investment facilities focus on agribusiness and renewable energy.
Before joining CDC in 2013, Pierre was a member of the Executive Board of a diversified conglomerate in Nigeria and Chief Executive of its logistics business. He had previously been the founder and Managing Director of a private equity fund management business focusing on frontier markets. In that role Pierre was the Fund Manager of the Afghanistan Renewal Fund, the country’s first private equity fund. Pierre started his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company and in investment banking at Goldman Sachs.
Pierre has an MPhil and a DPhil from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He also studied at Freie Universität Berlin and New York University.
